Spain’s national handball team — contextual photograph

Hotel Amura Alcobendas, FUNDAL and elite handball
During my tenure as general manager of Amura Hoteles, I recall welcoming a training camp of Spain’s national handball team at Hotel Amura Alcobendas. Hosting elite athletes required coordination of accommodation, rest, meals, privacy, timetables and appropriate working spaces.
My professional memories include Javier Fernández, connected with the national team’s communications, and Antonio Luque, associated with FUNDAL, the Alcobendas sports foundation. I also recall personally signing a sponsorship agreement in 2005 between Amura Hoteles and Club Balonmano Alcobendas, and FUNDAL gala dinners at the hotel.
Spain won the men’s handball World Championship in Tunisia on 6 February 2005. This gives sporting context but does not establish the precise date of the team’s stay at Amura.

These hosting arrangements, contacts, sponsorship and galas are presented as the author’s first-hand professional recollections. The exact training camp dates, a copy of the agreement and authentication and reproduction permissions for official photographs attributed to J. L. Recio still require verification. Images of other events are not presented as photographs of the hotel stay.
