Carlos Almagro · Memoirs of a General Manager
In May 2023, while developing a tourism project in Lanzarote, Carlos Almagro met Italian European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Luca Parmitano. Their meeting took place in the context of a seminar held in Haría, exploring natural caves and isolation experiences relevant to understanding the conditions of space missions.
According to Almagro’s personal account, the seminar was sponsored by the Municipality of Haría. Their conversation about the island and its tourism potential led to a professional relationship that developed into a friendship.
Parmitano helped bring visibility to the tourism initiative. Original photographs from Carlos Almagro’s personal archive document the encounter. This account distinguishes Almagro’s personal recollections from institutional information about ESA activities.
